Fastag FAQ’s

  1. What is FASTag?
  2. FASTag is a device that employs Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology for making toll payments directly from the CASA account linked to it. It is affixed on the windscreen of your vehicle and enables you to drive through toll plazas, without stopping for cash transactions.

  3. What are the benefits of using FASTag?
    1. Ease of payment - No need to carry cash for the toll transactions, saves time
    2. You can avail a cashback of 2.50% on all Toll payments using FASTag in FY 2019-20
    3. SMS alerts for toll transactions, low balance, etc.
    4. Its completely Integrated to the bank account.

  4. Which are the roads where the tag can be used?
  5. FASTag is presently operational at 493+ toll plazas across national and state highways. More toll plazas will be brought under the FASTag program in the future. You may see the list of plazas in the 'Active Toll Plazas' section.

  6. What are the charges for FASTag?
  7. FASTag has a onetime Fee of INR 95 including GST. The refundable security deposit depends on the vehicle type. Please check the 'Fees and Charges' section for details.

  8. How can I buy FASTag?
  9. You may visit any of the PMC bank Branches to get your tag account created. You may call our customer care @ 1800223993 or SMS FASTAG and send to 9773251313 to know more details.

    You will need to carry original as well as copy of your KYC document along with your vehicle at the POS / Sales office location.

  10. What are the documents needed to apply for FASTag?
  11. You will need to carry original as well as copy of your KYC document
    You need to submit the following documents along with the application for FASTag:

    1. Registration Certificate (RC) of the vehicle.
    2. Passport size photograph of the vehicle owner
    3. Corporate
      Public Ltd./ Private Ltd./ Partnership Proprietorship
      Certificate of Incorporation/ Partnership Deed/Registration certificate of the firm PAN Card of Proprietor
      PAN Card of the corporate Address Proof of the Proprietor
      Photo ID of signing authority Shop Act or other Firm Proof
      List of Directors with addresses/Name and addresses of Partners  


      ID proof and Address proof from the list mentioned, and 1 passport size photograph

      Driving License

      PAN Card


      Voter ID Card

      Aadhar Card
      (with address)

      A valid driving license would be sufficient for Address & ID proof.

      3 KYC documents as per the category of the vehicle owner:
      Our representative will provide you an application form, which you need fill and submit. All required documents for FASTag should be in the name of the owner of the vehicle. A valid driving license would be sufficient for Address & ID proof.


  12. Do I need to use any specific lane at the toll plaza for FASTag?
  13. Yes, you will have to use the lanes demarcated for FASTag.

  14. Can I avail a monthly pass?
  15. The monthly pass facility is specific to each toll plaza. You may call our customer care @ 1800223993 to check the details.

  16. How do I generate / reset my username and password?
  17. Once your FASTag account is created, PMC bank will Map Fastag to CASA details provided by customer at the time of Registration.

  18. I am interested for availing FASTag. How do I get the FASTag for my vehicle?
  19. You may visit any of the nearest PMC Bank Branches to get your tag account created. You may call our customer care @ 1800223993 or SMS FASTAG and send to 9773251313 to know more details.

  20. Is there any discount / cashback on Toll payments using FASTag?
  21. You can avail a cashback of 2.50% on all Toll payments using FASTag in FY 2019-20. The cashback amount for a particular month will be credited back to your FASTag account within 10 working days from the end of month.

  22. How would I cross toll plaza, if ETC equipment are not working?
  23. Drive out the vehicle through ejection lane into cash lane. a) Read FASTag with hand held reader b) If the hand held reader reads and validates the FASTag, - the toll operator shall allow the vehicle cross the Toll plaza and send the hand held reader transaction to clearing house for settlement and if still it does’nt works then you need to pay Cash and cross the Toll Plaza.

  24. What do I have to do if I lost my RFID Tag? What will happen to the account balance?
  25. You will need to call our customer care number to block your FASTag. Once you take a new account, we will transfer the balance to the new account.

  26. How would I know that the correct user fee has been deducted from my FASTag account?
  27. You will receive an SMS alert in your registered phone number each time a balance is deducted from your FASTag account.

  28. How would I report an incorrect deduction and how will I get back the same?
  29. You can report an incorrect deduction by calling us at our call center. We will review your request and if found correct, we will revert the incorrect deduction.

  30. How do I block my FASTag account, in case my vehicle is lost?
  31. You can call up our customer care and block your FASTag account.

  32. I have new vehicle fitted with RFID Tag. How to get it activated?
  33. We are exploring ways to use these tags for ETC , however it will require some new technical development. It will also be subject to tag being in proper condition without any damage or tampering.

  34. Can FASTag be used for passage through toll plazas on the state highways
  35. FASTag can be used on all toll plazas where it has been implemented. You can check the list of Plazas from the Toll Plaza Tab.

  36. I have FASTag and also balance amount, but I could not go through ETC lane. How do I get my FASTag checked/ rectified to see whether it is active or not?
  37. You can raise a request regarding the same by calling our customer care.

  38. I reside within 10 Km of a particular Toll plaza. Do I need to take FASTag to get the concessions available for local vehicles?
  39. You will need to submit your documents to the concessionaire validating your residence within 10km of a particular plaza. Once it is verified, you may avail the concession on the FASTag assigned to your vehicle.

  40. Why are the rates different for different vehicle categories?
  41. Vehicles are categorised for the welfare of road users. This categorisation is primarily based on the size and load they carry and damage done to the road and type of use (commercial/personnel) of a vehicle.

  42. Why concessions to local/ frequent users are different?
  43. Concession to local/frequent users are extended as welfare measures. There may be variation in the concessions available as these have been provided at different times under different fee rules and provisions of concession agreement.

  44. Why full user fee (toll) is to be paid although we travel a small length on the project road?
  45. In India, the tolling is generally under the open system, whereby fee payable is a fixed amount based on the length of stretch under one project which is normally 60 kilometres. If a stretch is of lesser length, user fee of actual length only is collected.

  46. What is normal minimum distance between two adjacent Toll Plazas?
  47. As per the fee rules 2008, the spacing between two adjacent toll plazas should be 60 km.

  48. In case of Harassment/ misconduct/ discourteous/ rude behaviour of toll collection staff, what should we do?
  49. In case of such a scenario, a complaint is to be lodged with respective Project Directors at the toll plaza.

  50. Why the user fee (toll) rate is different at 2 Toll Plazas?
  51. User fee on a particular fee plaza is based on stretch length under that plaza, structures (bridge, tunnel, bypass) and width of the highways, applicable fee rules and provisions of the concessions agreement.
